The question arises about the adequate professional competence of a modern Ukrainian teacher against the backdrop of integration of Ukraine into European and world space. The modern view of scientists on the concept of pedagogical professional competence is considered. After all, the professional competence of the teacher is not only certain knowledge and experience in the pedagogical sphere. It is not only the ability of a professional to perform certain tasks. As modern society is experiencing an unprecedented democratic, and therefore - humanistic, transformation, then teachers from art disciplines in our country influence democratic changes in Ukraine. One of the means of humanistic impact on society can be a deep study of regional differences in clothing, as well as historical changes in national clothes. The defining factor of the Ukrainian people, together with our language and folklore, is a folk costume that distinguishes us from other peoples. Folk costume keeps our traditions, includes the patterns of composition, color and form. The results of such studies can be useful for developing lecture courses and practical classes in such disciplines as clothing modeling, historical costume, history of fine arts, composition, drawing, painting, arts and crafts and others. This way will ensure the humanistic direction of the professional training of students, will allow the future teachers of art to understand the universal values and ethnic sources of their nation. The modern educational process is a transition to active quality education. In a higher school, such conditions should be created that promote self-development, self-improvement, individual creative work of future teachers of fine art.
